Your room is ready
Send this link to one person. The first two devices to open it get the seats.
The part after # is your encryption key. It stays in the browser and never reaches the server.
Room deletes itself after 7 days without messages.

What we store
Encrypted messages, encrypted pseudonyms and encrypted reveal details, plus a hashed seat token per participant. Encryption happens in your browser with a key that only exists in the link after the # sign. We can't read your messages.
We don't use accounts, cookies or third-party trackers. Fonts are served from this site. Your browser keeps your seat token and the chat key for rooms you joined, so you can reopen them on the same device.
Telegram notifications
If you turn on "Notify me on Telegram", our bot stores your Telegram chat id together with that room so it can tell you a new message arrived. It never receives message content, and the other person never sees your Telegram. Send /stop to the bot to turn it off; it's also removed when the room is deleted.
Sharing links
The part of a chat link after # is the key to that chat. Anyone who has the full link can read it, and if you send it in a normal Telegram chat, Telegram's servers can see it too. Send it only to the person you mean, ideally in a secret chat.
Inboxes
If you create an inbox, we store its name, your Telegram user id (to sign you in and send alerts), your public key, and your private key encrypted with your inbox password, which we can't decrypt. For each conversation we keep the room key sealed so only you can open it, plus the encrypted pseudonym and last message. To make blocks stick we keep a hashed browser id per visitor. Network addresses are only used, in salted hashed form, for short-lived rate limits.
An inbox's encryption key is published by our server, so you're trusting that we serve the right key and the right app code. A weak inbox password could be guessed by someone who got the encrypted backup, so use a long one.
Inbox owners can share a message they received as an image (for example on X). The image never includes the sender's pseudonym, but it does include the text, so don't put anything identifying in a message you wouldn't want quoted.
Tips and public answers
Inbox owners can add wallet addresses for tips. Tips go directly from your wallet to theirs on the blockchain; Slide DMs never holds funds and can't reverse a payment. Owners can also publish a question they received together with their answer on their inbox page, without the sender's pseudonym.
Usage counts
We count daily totals (rooms created, rooms joined, roughly how many messages) to know whether the service is useful. These counts aren't tied to any person or chat.
Reactions, replies, disappearing messages
Reactions are encrypted like messages. We can see which message a reaction or a reply points to, and the disappearing timer a chat uses, but not what anyone wrote. Disappearing messages are deleted from the server when their time is up; the other person could still have copied or screenshotted them.
Photos
Photos are view once. Your browser shrinks the photo, removes its hidden details (such as location), and encrypts it before upload, so we can't see it. We delete it from the server the moment the other person opens it, or after 24 hours if they never do. They can still take a screenshot, so only send what you'd be fine with them keeping. In an inbox, visitors can send photos only after the owner has replied.
If you report a photo from the viewer, your device sends us its decrypted copy so we can review it. We keep reported photos only as long as needed to handle the report, and illegal material may be passed to the authorities.
How long
A room and everything in it is deleted automatically 7 days after its last message. Either participant can delete it for both at any time from the chat menu.
Rules
Don't use Slide DMs for scams, harassment, threats, illegal content or anything that harms others. Never share a seed phrase or connect a wallet because someone in a chat asked you to.
Reporting abuse
Use "Report" in the chat menu. You can choose to attach the last messages of the conversation; they are decrypted on your device and sent to us only for review. You can also write to slidedms@proton.me.
No warranty
The service is provided as is, without guarantees of availability. Anyone holding the full link can open an empty seat, so share it only with the person you mean to talk to.
